The concept behind this website is to duplicate attending a seminar or conference for anyone interested in learning about trees and their management, without the expense and hassle of leaving your home and office. Instead of speakers, the ten articles listed in the right hand column of this page, provide you with up-to-date information from researchers and leaders in our industry. Unlike any conference, Online Seminars change articles every two months. This means new information all of the time. At the end of each article you may take a test to earn ISA certification CEU's, if you need them. You may take every test for a maximum of ten tests per Seminar.
The big difference between a conference and the Seminars is that there is no cost to join the Seminars. With the high cost of attending conferences at cities around the country, this concept makes a lot of sense for those of us with limited municipal budgets. Plus, the Seminars are available 24/7, so you can participate when time permits rather than taking travel time away from home and work. Many members live in isolated locations and the Seminars have become the only contact with their peers and reading up-to-date arboricultural information.
Seminar vendors are companies who have products or services of importance to arborists. They have been invited to have a link to their websites from the pages of this Seminar. Don't forget the Seminar vendors as you make your purchases. They need your support to stay in business and I need the vendor support to keep these Seminars coming at no cost to you.
The vendors thank you for clicking on their name at the right and checking out their website. →
I am often asked, "who am I and why do I do this?"
Although I was educated as a Landscape Architect, I have spent 30 years working in the field of municipal arboriculture. For 20 of those years I served the Society of Municipal Arborists as the editor of their journal, "City Trees". After retiring from City Trees, I missed the challenge of preparing articles and publications every two months, so Online Seminars for Municipal Arborists was born in March of 2005. The Seminars are my way of saying "thank you" to everyone who helped me and contributed to my arboricultural education in the past 30 years.
